Asymptotic analysis and numerical simulation of the Faraday Cage effect

Summary : This talk deals with the propagation of electromagnetic waves (time harmonic Maxwell’s equations) across  meta-surfaces made of equi-spaced small obstacles.  By asymptotic analysis, we show that a meta surface consisting of a mesh of wires  has the ability to block electromagnetic-waves.  Then, we illustrate this result by carrying out direct finite element simulations  with the help of domain decomposition preconditioners.
