Elastic Waves in Complex Media: My Journey from Metamaterials to Biomedical Imaging
Abstract:
This talk is an overlook of my experiences in Acoustics that led me to LMA.
First, my PhD work which explores Lamb waves and metamaterials, showing how their dispersive properties enable negative refraction, mode conversion, and devices such as Veselago lenses for advanced wave control.
Second, A post doc experience which focuses on crystalline lens elastography, using guided and surface waves to measure the viscoelastic properties of the eye lens and study changes related to ageing and stiffness.
Finally, we will investigate multiple scattering in complex media such as lungs, introducing quantitative ultrasound methods and random matrix theory to extract structural information where conventional imaging fails.
Together, these works illustrate how advanced wave physics can be leveraged for both wave manipulation and biomedical imaging.
