Conception and sound quality of musical instruments

This research centers around the musical instrument (and the musician) or the vocal apparatus (and the singer). The challenge is to deal with a nonlinear problem where the coupling with human is central, both for the production of sound and for the appreciation of the qualities of the sound. This requires designing the adequate theoretical and experimental analysis tools. The fields of application are instrument making (i.e. the design of new instruments) and pedagogy.
