About Sound Team
Olivier Macherey
Cédric Pinhède
The research performed in the Sound Team deals with several aspects of audible sounds: their production, propagation, control, synthesis and perception. The human being is, therefore, at the heart of our scientific questions, either because he is part of the production process (singing voice, musical instruments) or because he can experience sound annoyance (transportation noise), or because he uses sounds for a particular purpose (communication). Furthermore, in some of our research, the human being is the study subject (perception, hearing sciences). This research has broad applications in the engineering domain, including building industry, transportation, materials, health, communication and culture. The members of the Sound Team are also involved in the common laboratory LIAMFI (with industrial partner Buffet-Crampon) and in the Institute of Mechanics and Engineering (IMI) of Aix-Marseille University.
The pooling of the questions of the team's researchers allows the emergence of four research themes presented below. Independently of the theme, the work includes numerical, theoretical and experimental aspects.
