Design, characterization and modeling of composite structures
The focus here is on the mechanical strength of laminated composite materials and the design of composite structures for specific applications, which may include the use of innovative manufacturing processes. With regard to laminated materials, the challenge is to understand the micromechanisms responsible for damage and fracture, and to quantify their effects at the macroscopic level, so as to be able to propose damage models adapted to laminates. Particular attention is paid to structural effects. The activity has a strong experimental component and is developing strong links with industrial applications and teaching.
